Rembrandt goza de un gran prestigio por el esnobismo del discurso social aunque su obra no sintoniza con el gusto de esta época. La presente página es un intento más de mostrar su pintura, pero con las reproducciones trabajadas de manera que el espectador se acerque lo más posible a la experiencia de estar contemplando el original.

Rembrandt enjoys great prestige for the snobbery of social discourse although his work is not in tune with the taste of the time. The present page is a further attempt to show his painting, but with the reproductions worked in such a way as to bring the viewer as close as possible to the experience of contemplating the original.

- Jacob Trip fué un rico comerciante. Este retrato forma pareja con el de su mujer MARGARETHA DE GEER.

- Trip falleció en 1661, probable fecha del cuadro, por lo que se supone un retrato "post mortem". Aparte de esto es innegable que Rembrandt se basó en alguno de los retratos que Nicolaes Maes le realizó.
